I've started looking at bikes again. We want to be more committed to using two wheels this summer. I love my bike that I use for exercise, but I want a cool, low profile, affordable Dutch bike for getting around town. No luck so far in hunting down the Electra Amsterdam, but internet searches have brought me a new love...The Velobris Victoria. Why do the good ones have to cost as much as a motor scooter? Speaking of that, I'm also getting that tuned up this week. I need a new helmet, the foam in mine is crumbling apart and everytime I wear it I get black bits all over my hair and face. Those things are not cheap either! I'm starting to sound like my grandfather back in the day... Oh well, one has to pay to play.
A couple more favorite Dutch Bike sites:
CopenhagenGirlsonBikes
Copenhagenzine
Dutch Bike Co.

Here are some other new fun things I have been eyeing up.

Hi, I followed your link over from Copenhagen cycle chic. Are you Danish? Nice to come across another crafter/knitter who's obsessed with getting a Dutch bike too! I've been searching for one for ages but unfortunately no-one sells them here in Ireland so I'll have to get one from the U.K. Aren't they lovely?
My partner thinks I'm nutso for thinking of spending so much on a bike (and I'm not exactly rich!), but I know it'll last forever, so it's worth it I reckon.
Anyway, when people buy cars they don't blink an eye to spending thousands so why not get the best bike I can (barely :P) afford?
Look forward to seeing what you get
anyway :)
Christina,
It was so fun to get your comment today - allllllll the way from Ireland! I'm not Danish, but I wish I was. Amazing we have so much in common. I envy you and your Dutch bike search because as a European you will likely have an easier time hunting one down. You are right, a good bike is worth the price.
I look forward to seeing what you get as well - keep me posted and thanks for linking over.
Sigrid
